Desktop reports
With the exception of reports for Professional Conduct and Competence
matters, Dr Loumidis cannot prepare desktop reports, simply by
reviewing documents and without thoroughly examining the client.
Average timescale for the report
The average waiting time for an examination is 1-2 weeks upon receipt
of the instructions. Provided that all the documents have
been received, Dr Loumidis aims to complete his report
within the following 1-2 weeks.
Past instructing solicitors and agencies
Dr Loumidis has provided independent psychological report for over 150
firms of solicitors and other agencies (available upon request).
Instruction letter
Dr Loumidis does not accept instructions from litigants-in-person
or legally-aided parties. All parties have to be legally
represented, and equally responsible for his reasonable fees.
Required documents
Please ensure that we receive complete General Practitioner’s
notes before and after the index incident or events, hospital records, any relevant independent expert witness
reports or psychology records, which will be required before the report
is completed. If we have not received these documents, the report may be
delayed.
Duration
The assessment is likely to last between 45-90 minutes, but
this duration may vary. Dr Loumidis may require more than one occasion
to complete his assessment.
The role of the psychologist
Dr Loumidis will be assessing clients in his capacity
as an independent expert witness and not for the provision of any
private and confidential psychological assessment or treatment
services.
Background factors
Dr Loumidis will assess in detail and in depth the client's
post-incident, as well as pre-incident circumstances. It is
important that clients provide him with a complete and accurate
history, without concealing or minimising the significance of any of
their circumstances.
Review of documents
Dr Loumidis will have access to a client's medical and/or other records, provided
to him by his solicitors. Inconsistencies between the client’s
account, Dr Loumidis's clinical findings, and evidence in these
records, may undermine Dr Loumidis’s opinion and/or the
client’s credibility.
Psychological testing
Dr Loumidis may ask clients to complete psychological
tests, which they will need to complete accurately. Inconsistencies between their account, Dr Loumidis’s clinical
findings, and client’s tests scores, may undermine his opinion
and/or their credibility.
Amendments
Significant
factual or typographical errors should be referred to Dr Loumidis as soon as
possible and certainly before any hearing. In accordance with
paragraph 35.6 of the practice directions to the Civil Procedure Rules,
a party may put written questions about an expert's report once only
and must be put within 28 days of service of the expert’s report. Dr
Loumidis shall refer to the Court on all factual matters. Dr Loumidis cannot accept request for
amendments directly from clients. All requests have to come via
the instructing parties.
Amendments
Dr Loumidis may have to change his opinion in light of new clinical
information, further consideration, and/or information which may be
supplied in the future. Significant errors, inaccuracies, or
omissions of factual information should be referred to Dr
Loumidis as soon as possible, and certainly before any Court or
Tribunal Hearing. Written questions regarding Part 35 reports
should be put to Dr Loumidis once, within 28 days of service of his
report.
Independence
Dr Loumidis has, and will continue to have, a duty to the
Court/Tribunal and not the claimant, defendant, or any instructing
parties. The report will be entirely independent, irrespective of who
pays for his fees.
Adverse effects
For some people, the examination process may be upsetting or trigger
adverse psychological reactions. If so, clients are asked to
please let Dr Loumidis know during the examination, or seek help after
the examination from their GP.
Profession
Dr Loumidis is a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and not a Doctor of Medicine for medical
conditions, nor a Psychiatrist commenting on medication.
Conflict of roles
Dr Loumidis can act either as an independent expert, or as a treating clinician, but not exercise both roles at once.
Seeking psychological help
For any current psychological problems, clients do not have to wait for
Dr Loumidis’s report before they seek psychological therapy to
mitigate their losses. Their GP can refer them to an NHS or
private Clinical Psychologist at any point in time.
Confidentiality
Copies of the report will be sent to third parties, and/or the
Court/Tribunal and the usual patient-psychologist therapeutic
confidentiality does not apply.
Suitability
If at any point Dr Loumidis feels that a client’s needs may
require input from another professional instead of seeing him, he may
suggest alternative options.
Financial interests
Dr Loumidis does not have any financial interests in any of the clinics that he practices.
Assessment content
The assessment will involve an in-depth examination of a client’s
current circumstances, their background, and other factors of
psychological relevance.
Choice of time, date and venue
Dr Loumidis will try to be flexible to suit people's lifestyle, but this may not always be logistically possible.
Emergencies
Dr Loumidis does not operate an emergency or out-of-hours crisis service.
Crisis plan
In an emergency, if a client (or others) feel that they could be a risk
to themselves or others, they should contact their GP, 999 or their local
A&E.
Limits of confidentiality
If Dr Loumidis believes that there is a serious risk of harm or neglect
to a person or others, he may need to talk to other professionals
without a client’s consent.
Data protection
Dr Loumidis is an ICO Registered Data Controller, compliant with the Data Protection Act 2003.
